Personal Finance (Not Investing) • Employer denies existance of Pension reported to the IRS

I do live in New England and will check with the Pension Action Center shortly.]
They weren't quick, like in terms of just days to respond to my inquiry and request for help. But once they did I had a contact there that sent out inquires and chased things down on my behalf.
My pension was small, vested in 1989 (maybe?), vested just before I left the company as I had planned that.
but the company, had several changes over the years. I did have the original paperwork from my separation, but the 'new' company had no record of anything and didn't know where the 'pensions' got put - under what company.
It ended up that another company 'inherited' the pensions.
Had a choice of ~100 a month. I forget the actual, but it wasn't much. I decided to not sign up at that time as I was hoping for a lump sum and was still working.
About a year and a half later the company made a lump sum offer to get people off the books.
Ended up with ~28K -
So despite thinking it might not be much of a pension, it actually might be a decent amount!
Good luck
