I can’t believe this is a choice. If he applied to USNA and was accepted, it shouldn’t really be a discussion. The service academies are on par with the Ivy League imo and they are free.
Employers love hiring veterans and the service academy showing up on a resume is ultra impressive. I work for a Wall Street firm and we have an internship dedicated solely to veterans. There are very few schools that will get you in the door for an interview like Annapolis will, and UT is not one of them, imo. It is an excellent school in own right but not Annapolis.
If he doesn’t want to do the obligatory service, I’m not sure why he applied but Annapolis is simply not an opportunity you pass up. The benefits of that degree and service will create opportunities for him for the rest of his life.
