Good question. I'm a day ahead of you on this timeline. The preferred rewards email does say it can take up to 30 days. Still waiting for my first charge to post, so I'm hoping to see what rewards do soon. I don't know when they normally show up (after the charge posts, after the statement is issued, something else?).Here is my timeline.
Do you think my credit cards will start at the Platinum Honors rewards level immediately or will I have to wait 30 days?
March 4 – Open BOFA Checking and ME CMA. Issued asset transfer to CMA
March 5 – PR and CCR cards applied and immediately approved
March 6 – Email saying CCR was shipped
March 7 – Email saying PR was shipped
March 8 – Asset transfer complete
March 10 – Email "Welcome to Preferred Rewards". Login shows Platinum Honors
March 11 – Debit Card and CCR arrive
I also tried paying off the charge immediately on Saturday which has resulted in a negative balance as the payment has already posted, but the available credit hasn't updated. I saw a FAQ that said it can take up to 2 business days, so hopefully by the end of today.
I want to pay taxes with this card for the spread between the fee and the rewards, but given the credit limit I'm going to need to make multiple payments and get the available credit back up in between payments, so that could be tight if the rewards don't kick in until 4/8.
Does anyone know if the "You’re earning unlimited 1.5% cash back on all purchases" under the credit card rewards tab should update to reflect the preferred rewards bonus, or does it always say that and you just get the preferred rewards bonus on top of that?
