Investing - Theory, News & General • How do you deal with the all time market highs?

Here's my honest answer. I capitulated and basically started market timing. Until a couple months ago, my strategy was to keep a couple years of living expenses in short term treasuries, and the rest in VTI/VOO. But that grew so imbalanced that I switched to 80/20 and have been rebalancing as the market continues to rocket up. And of course that's already cost me some gains Image may be NSFW.

To be clear though, my intention is for 80/20 to be a permanent change. But I'd be lying if I claimed this recent run up wasn't what caused reflection and the switch. It pulled forward some questions about what my goals are. Interestingly the big swings downward in 2020 / 2022 (or 2008 for that matter) didn't really impact my strategy. But the upward swing caught me off guard.
