This is why we are waiting. At some time in the near future there will be a tipping point and the benefits will far exceed the expenses.

Also, I think most people will be plugging into a local solar farm instead of individual units on each home.

I am waiting for the total out the door price to hit 1$/watt in 2014 dollars or $1.33$/watt in 2024 dollars. Right now it looks the cost is about $2.5/watt in 2024 dollars.

But I’ll re-assess once we need a new roof in about 5 years.
