Apparently with a “letter of necessity” which means nobody will ask or care probably.

Doctor or midwife could get you the letter. Just ask first what you’d need to get one.
I wonder how the IRS would even verify receipts for healthcare expenses that happened 50 years in the past. It basically sounds like honor system.
50 years is a long time. But they will issue CP letters on a current or recent tax return and expect to receive documentation of the values entered on your tax return (in this case, Form 8889). I had two in two years a while back.
