I quit watching "Vikings" before the season two finale. It had gotten weird in a couple of episodes (too much emphasis on strange pagan rites) and the internal power struggles were getting incredibly pointless. I had liked the earlier episodes where there was a promise of discovery of new lands, but the bitter infighting put that on hold.

I had heard that "Vikings" was the opposite of good wine -- it gets worse with time :D so I was kind of expecting this.

I did, however, enjoy parts of history come to life. Like seeing the type of Anglo-Saxon kings that you read about in Shakespeare (well I don't read Shakespeare, but you get the point). Also a bit of myth-busting: Vikings apparently don't wear those ugly horned hats that are popularly associated with them. Strangely, I don't even recall hearing the term "Vikings". The Saxons referred to them as "Norsemen". Which is probably more descriptive. They were Europeans after all, just from northern territories. Their distinguishing characteristic was more about their obsession for plundering other lands for riches, their pagan religion vs Christianity, and their unique form of warfare with an emphasis on "shield walls".
