It's not about where you live.

Imagine walking around and there's someone following you writing down a list of everywhere you go and everything you might be interested at buying in a store. They send you advertisements about those products in the mail, play over the radio or even on the TV. Some folks knock on your door asking if you'd like to buy the item.

You get creeped out and you tell that person to stop following you, and hang up a sign around your neck that says "nobody is allowed to follow me around"

They go away for a few days and all of a sudden they knock on your door at home, asking if they could share your address. You say no. Tomorrow they ask you again. Then the day after. You eventually give in and say "fine" but they snip the sign off your neck and start following you everywhere you go again. You tell them again, "stop following me" but they say "well, remember that one time you told me it was OK? you'll have to sign a separate form to stop me again"

Pretty much everyone gives up and lives with it. Over time, this gets normalized and people are OK with it.
I guess I am not sure why I would get creeped out. If I am shopping for running shoes, I find running shoe ads helpful. I guess I don't see search as that unique from loyalty apps, credit cards and simple barcoded coupons. Pretty sure my car is tracking me since an open garage button pops up on the screen when I am near my garage. Maybe I have just accepted it as part of modern life.
Probably yes; some of us don't. Personal choice. One of my siblings believes a lot of the "review" articles that Google feeds her despite the multiple times I've shown her they are fabricated publications that don't exist. No amount of convincing works. But she also likes Amazon so ... what can you do.
And I love Amazon also. So take that for what it is worth.
heh heh; match made -- but what is your view on processed food? For or against?
My preference is away from highly processed foods with a couple glaring exceptions. After all I am human which means I am quite likely a walking contradiction.
