The Three Colors Trilogy, Blue, White, and Red, directed by Krzysztof Kieslowski and released in 1993-94. Three separate movies that intersect at points. The movies are set, respectively, in Paris, Paris and Warsaw, and Geneva; en francais. "Psychological dramas" is a fair description of them; the movies involve themes of loss, loneliness, and resilience, among other things.

In Blue, a woman tries to put her life back together after her husband and child die in a car crash. In White, a Polish immigrant tries to get even with his ex-wife. In Red, an accident leads to a relationship between a model and a retired judge who spies on his neighbors.

I've watched these movies a bunch of times and enjoy them more with each viewing. At first, I liked White the most because it's the funniest and most accessible, but now it's Blue; I guess the strength of the protagonist in trying to recover from such tragic loss really hits me. Typing this up, I wonder if I really like Red the most. Anyway, they're all good. Some people might get frustrated with the films' pace or dialogue, but I'm a sucker for these movies. Recommended. On Max.
I watched these in the theater when they came out. They’re really good. I recommend too.
