Personal Finance (Not Investing) • Nice way to turn down NWM employee I met at an event?

I would just unambiguously tell him that you aren't interested in any sort of investments/insurance/etc at this time. Don't prolong the inevitable.

I used to work in a commissioned sales job when I was in school (non-financial). One thing I learned is that sales is a numbers game. You have to prospect X people to find the one who is receptive to the sale. The absolutely worst thing for a salesperson is to waste time on a person who isn't interested. You want to minimize your time with those people since they are preventing you from getting to the people who ARE interested.

Many people would be polite and humor me when they had no actual interest. They were a time waster.

When someone flat out told me that they weren't interested, it was a gift. I could unambiguously be on my way to the next person. I would rather have that than to be strung along without any hope of a sale.

So give this person a gift and tell them you aren't interested... full stop.
I am a salesperson's nightmare. I cannot be sold. When I run into one who is not getting the message and persists, I finally tell them, "You'd make better use of your time of someone else." and then I end the phone call.
