When I first created freezes, and had pins to use when I needed to unfreeze. There were no login accounts. A few years later, I went to unfreeze at one of the bureaus, and it asked me to create a new account first, using info that attackers probably can get, including from a breach of one of the credit bureaus. Some, but not all of the bureaus asked for the pin to create the account to maintain continuity of security around the freeze. One did not.
Thus, I try to log in at least once/year to make sure everything is in order.
