Enjoy citifield. Enjoy the game. You made the following universal statement:If the op is under 30, the op should consider my point. Perhaps [unnecessary comment removed by mod Kendall] take little bit of risk for higher returns, considering s/he got a decades of investing periods ahead. This is a touch doctrinaire. None of us have any idea what everyone's risk tolerance and stomach for volatility are.If you are under 30, you do not need bonds. Invest in Fzrox - Fidelity ZERO® Total Market Index Fund and Fzilx - Fidelity ZERO® International Index Fund. Stock returns higher than bond. Skip bond.
Perhaps OP is considering a TDF specifically because they want some bonds (even 9.48% in FFIJX) along with the simplicity of a glide path and all-inclusive fund.
Op didn’t say that s/he wanted TDF for bond. If the TDF doesn’t make sense in Roth, the op isn’t considering a bond fund.
"If you are under 30, you do not need bonds."
That is an impossible statement to make. You have no idea what everyone under thirty might need in terms of asset allocation. It's not the type of advice one should be giving. I'm just offering this for your consideration.
Best wishes. I have Mets tickets for August 17th against the Marlins at Citi Field.
