Depending on how you acquired the shares, you could sell the lots with the highest cost basis first.

If I'm understanding the OP, you have 2mm in stock on a 400k cost basis, so 1.6mm in unrealized gains.

If you sell the lots with the highest cost basis, maybe you'd end up with "only" 600k in capital gains, as opposed to 800k if you bought it all at the same time.
