My understanding is that MAGI for ACA pretty closely tracks AGI except for a few categories of income getting added back, which afaik doesn’t include scholarship income. So assuming his MAGI is close to his AGI, the entire standard deduction will not count, correct?
Also, standard deduction happens after AGI, so isn't relevant.
